Into the Wild of Alaska: Adventure Stories and Perspective

Yesterday’s visit with a friend who stopped by, this friend who lives in the mountains of Colorado surrounded by wilderness, prompted memories and conversation about the 15 day trip my husband and I took to Alaska. This was our second trip, and what I had in mind was a couple of weeks on board a ship, resting and recovering, and celebrating my recent graduation from 4 arduous years in seminary. Instead, we boarded a ship in Vancouver that let us off in 3 days for the rest of the journey through Alaska and the Yukon by train, boat, bus, and some of the territory traveled on foot. Who knew? A Time to Thrive

The days are getting shorter by the minute. From September 21 until the winter solstice, the days get shorter. Sharing with you, I-Friends (Internet friends), the wonders of Spring. Well, there you go!

Experiences, I have found, are not transferable. Still, the traveler seeks to share his or hers anyway. My adventure started and ended in Rome, only it’s not fair to say I actually saw Rome the first time through simply because I had to go through Rome in order to arrive at my initial destination. But I wound up back in Rome before flying home.

    Returning from Italy made easier

“When I was at home, I was in a better place. But travelers must be content.”                       Shakespeare, As You Like It Before I left home, I was already thinking about my return trip. For that, I planned to check the 21″ Travelpro carry-on (base luggage). Previously, I made a big deal about the luggage I took to Italy. Originally I thought only of a smaller carry-on item I could attach to my to my wheeled suitcase, preferably placed over the telescoping handle as opposed to a backpack or say, a Vera Bradley tote. VB sells a tote with the…
